VPS hosting is a physical server divided into several modules or virtual servers. Each unit installs a proprietary operating system and is used as a physical server. With VPS hosting, you get better performance and more control simultaneously. Best of all, it’s as simple as shared hosting and much cheaper than a dedicated server. The cost usually ranges from $20 per month to $100 or more. If you have ever used shared hosting with cPanel, you must know how easy web hosting is. How to add a domain name to the VPS server?
Sign in to your hosting account, then switch to the Domains tab from the top menu bar. The domain list will open automatically. On this page, you can find and manage all existing domains. Since we will add a new field to the VPS server, click Set from the submenu in the top section. Now you will see the four steps to add a domain to your cPanel account below.
Step 1. Enter the domain
Type a valid domain name that you want to set up. It can be a domain already associated with your account or not already associated with your hosting account. To add a new domain name to your VPS account in cPanel, click Use a domain not already associated with your account, and type in the domain name you wish to configure, such as betterhostreview.com, yourdomain.com, etc.
Step 2. Verify ownership
Next, you will need to choose one of the domain ownership verification methods, including:
- Indicating Bluehost name servers;
- Set up a DNS A record to point to the IP address of your VPS server;
- Create a static HTML page;
- Enter the EPP authorization code obtained from your current registrar.
- Note that you can get one domain name for free since you use their hosting service.
Also, if you purchased the domain with Bluehost, you do not need to verify ownership. Their name servers will be referenced automatically.
Domain ownership is required when purchasing a domain elsewhere. However, you can buy an environment with a different registrar and host the domain and site on a server with your hosting provider. For example, suppose your domain registrar is GoDaddy. Step 3. Choose Addon vs. Blocked
Now you need to decide if you want to use it as an addon or park a domain on the VPS server. If you want to create a new site with this new domain name, choose the additional field, and if you want it to point to an existing domain/site, select the parked domain.
Step 4. Choose the additional directory and subdomain
When you set up a new domain site and select the additional domain in the previous step, you need to choose the directory to which you want the other part to point. For example, you can tell the new field to a folder on your hosting server or create a new folder for it now. This is the root directory where you can load and save all pages of your website for the new site.
